Welcome
CLEANSOIL is an INCO (Specific Measures in Support of International Co-operation) Project funded by the European Commission under the 6th Framework Programme 2002-2006, which deals with dedicated international co-operation activities which are relevant to some groups of countries or regions and which are not addressed by the 7 thematic priorities of FP6. These specific international co-operation activities give support in particular to the Community's external relations and development aid policies.
CLEANSOIL addresses problems of mutual interest for both the EU Member and Candidate countries and the countries formerly integrated in the Soviet Union, concretely environmental and health problems associated to soil and groundwater pollution affecting both regions.
Project details:
Full title: CLEANSOIL - An Innovative Method for the On-Site Remediation of Polluted Soil under existing Infrastructures
Acronym: CLEANSOIL
Contract number: INCO-CT-2005-013420
Project duration: May 1st, 2005 - April 30th, 2008
Acronym: CLEANSOIL
Contract number: INCO-CT-2005-013420
Project duration: May 1st, 2005 - April 30th, 2008
Project objectives:
The CLEANSOIL project will develop and promote the on-site in-situ treatment of hazardous substances at local point source by means of adsorption mechanisms. Based on its simplicity it is specially targeted for large areas of polluted land, and when removal is not practicable i.e. under existing infrastructures.
The CLEANSOIL remediation method will reduce the potential risk of pollution spread through soil and water sources and will help to revitalize valuable space in outer and inner city areas. Besides the CLEANSOIL method will prevent health damage and improve the quality of life for humans, animals and plants.
